The date 6th September 2003, the venue Finsbury Park, London. The support acts had done their sets and the atmosphere is growing knowing that limpbizkit are due on stage @ 9pm and MTV are showing it live. The lights go off and the music begins. Eat you alive is the starting point, Fred is sat in the front of the crowd and begins the set - the crowd roar with pure excitement.

We can only tell you how it felt to be in the mosh pit, having watched a recording of the show from MTV it was hard to feel the number of people there, somewhere between 30 and 35 thousand, even though having been there all day. When limp began to play personally it was time for me to enjoy it and do my own thing and enjoy my own experience. As the set went on Fred and the boy's brought the crowd more and more to life, the atmosphere grew, somehow they manage to work the crowd like no other I seen before, you could feel the energy from the band and also the passion that they have for doing what they do, performing for the fans. It's hard to describe the feeling as I think for each person it would be different. Something that stood out was the number of people who did not seem to know the songs around us, but I will say I am sure if they were not big fans before this they will be now, as Fred would say 'the army grows' and after seeing that I can understand what he means.

If asked to pick a favourite song from the gig it would have to have be 'behind blue eyes' its a song by Townsend (The Who) 1971, but this is the first time that I heard limpbizkit perform it and if I did not know better I would have said it was written for them, it seemed to hit the spot for me.

After various encore the show was over, but the feeling wasn't. Things that stand out apart from an amazing show is that Fred gets into the crowd, on 3 occasions as I remember, so thanks to Fred and his security as what a thing to do with so many people there and everyone just wanting to be near him. I have seen some other big names over the years and up to now I have to say seeing David Bowie was the best to date, but this just took it to another level.

I want to thank the people I was with for a great time and weekend, and hey for the people with me, see this fella still has life in him yet in the mosh pit.

You will see some of the gig pictures posted here, I recommend you watch it again and again if you can on MTV, it will always be hard to relate the feeling of being there when watching it on TV, but if you multiply the feeling you get from the TV show by 1000000000000 you will come close to it.

The tracks played

Eat You Alive - Hot Dog - My Generation - Break Stuff - My Way - Underneath The Gun - Nookie - Behind Blue Eyes - Take A Look Around - Full Nelson - Never mind - Faith

As a footnote, 4 fans got pulled on stage for My way - I am sure it was something they will never forget. All I wait for now is the next UK dates. Thank you to limpbizkit, their security, the support acts, crew and all the promoters. The only thing that would have made the day better would have been to meet the band, but maybe next time.

Only a few words can describe this show really. Awesome, Superb, Amazing…any superlative will do and this show just re-enforced the importance Fred Durst holds his fans with. Limpbizkit came back to the UK under a little bit of pressure I’d say, pulling out of headline festival appearances so the onus was on them to perform. Perform they did! The support acts for limpbizkit were, well, they had a tough act to live up to but they tried, and failed. The UK acts coming courtesy of InMe, The Cooper Temple Clause and A. The only highlight from which from a UK perspective was A, they were very good also and led perfectly into the main event: limpbizkit.

The show opened with a good rendition of Eat You Alive (lead single from new album Results May Vary), which got the crowd in the mood and built up nicely to where the show really started. Eat You Alive was followed by a powerhouse performance of Hot Dog that was frankly awesome with rifts and beats coming out fantastically resulting in a rather frightening looking mosh pit. My Generation was the next track and John Otto took command of this one taking everyone to “The Matthews Bridge” before Fred took over and worked the crowd up like only he can. Bearing in mind Mike Smith, the new guitarist had only had two weeks to rehearse these songs you wouldn’t think so, you’d think he was an original line up member giving the songs a pacier feel to them. Break Stuff was introduced with a tirade at “that fucking bitch Britney Spears” and after picking some faces from the crowd Fred decided things were done “My Way” which lead straight into the most furious version of Ministry’s “Thieves” (half the crowd didn’t know what it was) which was, for me, the absolute highlight – 35,000 people jumping in unison to a simply awesome rift from Smith. The crowd needed calming a little and the bizkit lead the crowd into the melodic and inspiring “Underneath The Gun”. To quicken the pace again “Nookie” was perfect before being given a great version of “Behind Blue Eyes” which was also like a game of “Where’s Fred?” as he sung the song from various positions in the crowd. “Take A Look Around” sent the crowd into a frenzy with its pyrotechnics in time with the tune it was a great thing to see before launching into “Full Nelson” as part of the encore which was also full of pyrotechnics. Fred came out on his own with a guitar to play “Nevermind” and then the show was brought to an astounding finale with the usual curtain downer “Faith” dedicated to all the ladies. An absolutely superb, high-energy show that I will not forget in a hurry, get back to the UK soon boys!!

Thanks to Wakers, England
